Melissa is a Registered Clinical Counsellor who offers counselling to children, adolescents and adults including couples and families.
Melissa approaches her work with clients from a collaborative, strength-based lens and utilizes a variety of therapeutic modalities to best support the needs of each individual. Melissa believes that given that we are all unique individuals, there is not a one size fits all model. She uses an eclectic approach including, Solution-focused, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Existential Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Mindfulness, and Expressive Arts.
Melissa has over 15 years of experience working with clients and has been the owner of Motion Counselling and Wellness since 2018. She worked as a Crisis Intervention Worker with the RCMP Victim Services Unit and has also provided individual counselling to children, adolescents and adults, as well as couples and families. Melissa has provided these services in office, outreach, youth centre and retreat settings. She has facilitated several groups including, positive parenting, as well as various children and youth groups for anxiety, Superflex curriculum (for children with executive functioning issues), stress management, suicide prevention and grief support.
Melissa is passionate about helping others and has a particular strength and interest in grief and loss work, perinatal and postpartum, motherhood, life transitions, depression and anxiety support.
Melissa holds a Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology from City University of Seattle.
