Layne is a Registered Social Worker who offers counselling to individuals (14+), couples and groups.
Layne strives to provide a safe space for clients to explore their inner worlds and develop their sense of self. Within this co-created container, she connects clients to ideas and practices designed to strengthen self-trust and emotional resiliency. Self-work can also increase one’s capacity to cope with life’s stressors.
Layne offers support to those experiencing anxiety, perfectionism, self-esteem concerns, as well as those coping with life transitions or relational difficulties. She has a keen interest in perinatal and postpartum support. Layne adapts her approach to suit clients’ evolving needs, desires, and energy. These levels are expected to fluctuate within or between sessions. Layne operates from a client-centered and strengths-based approach. She utilizes strategies and techniques from various therapeutic modalities including Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral, Acceptance and Commitment, Gottman Couples and Solutions-Focused Therapy.
Layne has provided social work services and emotional support to mothers and caregivers in a poverty-relief setting. She has facilitated psychoeducational support groups for youth and adults experiencing anxiety and/or depression. She has also volunteered with the Kelowna Crisis Line.
Layne holds a Master of Social Work degree from the University of British Columbia.
